It was announced today that the Victoria Royals have traded forward Dino Kambeitz and a fourth round pick in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft in exchange for defenceman Nolan James of the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
Lethbridge’s James is an 18-year-old defenceman hailing from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and played 49 games during the club’s last season. He recorded 12 points (2 goals, 10 assists) and 47 penalty minutes in the regular 2018-19 season, and played all seven of the Hurricanes’ playoff bouts during their run.
The blueliner has tallied 61 games in his WHL career with 13 points total. Originally drafted by the Hurricanes, they acquired him in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft at 41st overall.
Dino Kambeitz began his WHL career with the Royals, selected by Victoria in the fifth round of the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft at 90th overall.
The forward played 67 regular season games with the Royals in 2018-19 and scored 25 points total (9 goals, 16 assists) paired with 48 penalty minutes. Kambeitz racked up 138 career regular season games played from 2016-2019 (all with Victoria) and has earned 43 points (20 goals, 23 assists) and 102 penalty minutes during his time here.
