Section of Sooke Road closed to traffic after semi-truck drags down power line (UPDATED)

Share

UPDATE: As of 2:40 p.m., sources in the area confirm that the road has reopened and traffic is flowing both ways.

Earlier: West Shore RCMP are diverting traffic on Highway 14 near Luxton Fairgrounds due to a downed power line.

Officers arrived at the 2800-block of Sooke Road at around 1:20 p.m. this afternoon after a semi-truck snagged a power line.

This caused the entire line to go down down across the highway and prompted police to shut down Sooke Rd between Happy Valley and Luxton Road.

Authorities are diverting traffic through Marwood Road for the time being.

Crews from BC Hydro are en route, and officers ask everyone in the area to be patient while they work to clear the line.
