If you’ve walked down Fort Street lately, you may have stopped to take a peek in the window of an intriguing new store that has had an “Opening Soon” sign on it for weeks.
As of Friday, August 30th, Cacao 70 has quietly opened up shop and are now officially welcoming Victorians to try their chocolate-filled menu.

The eatery/sweetshop first opened in Montreal in 2011 and since then has expanded to over 40 locations across Canada.
The staff and equipment in the Victoria store is brand new, which is why they have only had a soft opening without much fanfare thus far.
According to store manager Yasmine Zhou, Cacao 70’s Victoria location will host their grand opening in 2-3 weeks.
Sweet and savoury servings
Their menu contains 10 different chocolate flavours featured in a plethora of dishes including soft-serve dips, customizable fondues, crêpes, and waffle combos.
For those who have less of a sweet tooth, the eatery also offers a variety of savoury dishes like savoury crêpes, pressed crêpe sandwiches, grilled sandwiches, salads, and an entire brunch menu served until 4 p.m.
“We have our own chocolate factory in Montreal so we use our own organic cacao beans,” Zhou tells Victoria Buzz.
Zhou is the franchise’s regional manager based in Vancouver and will be in town for up to three months in order to ensure smooth sailing for the company’s first Island location.
She says their newest storefront location in Victoria has been in the works for nearly 2 years and has taken a long time to open due to problems with the City when it came to construction, but would not elaborate on the subject.
Cacao 70 will also be offering delivery service through UberEats and SkiptheDishes.
