Victoria Police officer injured after allegedly impaired driver slams into police cruiser

A Victoria Police officer was injured in the line of duty after trying to apprehend an allegedly impaired driver.

On September 8th, police responded to reports of an impaired driver at a parking lot in the 800-block of Douglas Street.

As officer approached the vehicle, the driver immediately attempted to flee and in the process rammed into the police cruiser.

The officer suffered non-life threatening injuries and was unable to return to work. The vehicle and suspect in question have not been located yet.

VicPD are currently investigating this case, and anyone with information is asked to contact them at 250-995-7654.
