Motorcyclist at fault in fatal Saanich collision on Monday: Police

The motorcyclist who died after a vehicle crash in Saanich Monday is found to have been primarily responsible for causing the collision, according to Saanich Police.

On September 30th, the 51-year-old man succumbed to his injuries sustained in a collision between his motorcycle and a pickup truck on Prospect Lake Road near Munn Road.

At the time of the incident – at around 5 p.m. – Saanich Police closed the 400-block of Prospect Lake Road for several hours while crash analysts investigated the site.

Today, police released the results of their investigation which shows that the manner in which the motorcycle was being driven and the mechanical condition of the motorcycle were deemed the main contributing factors in the crash.

The driver of the pickup truck was found to not be at fault, and has been cooperating fully in the investigation.

Road conditions are not considered a factor in this incident and no charges, criminal or otherwise, are being considered.

“Our condolences are extended to the family, friends and all those involved,” stated D/Sgt. Kowalewich.
