View Royal’s beloved Four Mile Pub has just announced that they will remain closed until January after the building sustained heavy damage from a fire that broke out last month.

On October 22nd, a fire was reported at the establishment located at 199 Island Highway, and mutual aid fire crews from View Royal, Esquimalt, Colwood, and Langford attended to the blaze.

No one was injured as all patrons and staff were evacuated, but the building was heavily damaged.

“We have now heard the remediation is more extensive than we expected. Unfortunately we will not be opening until January,” reads a post on the brewpub’s Facebook page.

The fire appears to have originated in the kitchen and spread through the walls before firefighters were able to extinguish it.
