Sonic the Hedgehog movie filmed on Vancouver Island gets brand new trailer

Paramount Pictures have released a new trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog after fan complaints that the supersonic blue hedgehog looked nothing like what they expected based on the Sega video game series.

The original trailer was released in April and received ample criticism for both Sonic’s look and ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ by Coolio as the soundtrack choice.

However the redesign has been lauded by all, as the blue hedgehog that 90’s kids know and love now looks much more like himself.

Take a look:

Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie is coming to theatres on February 14th, 2020. But the anthropomorphic speedster isn’t the only thing islanders will recognize.

Parts of the movie were filmed on Vancouver Island in September 2018, shutting down a section of Highway 19 near Bowser for several days.

The $90-million movie also featured parts of Ladysmith – dubbed “Green Hills” – as the main hub for its characters.

Starring Jim Carrey and James Marsden, Sonic follows the story of a cop from a rural town who helps Sonic escape from a government that is trying to capture him.
