UPDATE: The hold and secure at Edward Milne Community School in Sooke was lifted at approximately 2:10 p.m. and students were allowed to leave their classrooms.

Unconfirmed sources say that one person has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Sooke RCMP has yet to release any information on the reason for the lockdown.

Earlier: Edward Milne Community School in Sooke has been placed under hold and secure on Thursday morning.

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on November 7th, parents and guardians of students at the school received an email stating that the measure was instated due to police activity in the vicinity of the school.

No one is allowed to enter or exit the school at this time, and all students are safely inside the building.

The school district is working with RCMP and will provide an update once it is available. Parents and guardians are currently being asked to stay away from the school.

Sooke RCMP is not releasing any information about the incident at this time.
