44-year-old Alberta man arrested in Oak Bay for outstanding sexual assault warrants

Oak Bay Police arrested a man wanted in Alberta for outstanding sexual assault warrants last month.

The 44-year-old man was arrested on November 28th at a residence in the 2000 block of Cedar Hill Cross Road near the University of Victoria.

He was wanted for outstanding warrants in Alberta for charges including Sexual Assault and Sexual Assault with a weapon. 

Oak Bay Police received information from Edmonton Police Service which lead to the man’s arrest. He was taken into custody without incident, according to a press release from police.

The man is currently in the care of B.C. Sheriffs and will be returned to Alberta to answer to the charges.

“When we learn of criminals in our community either with warrants or who are on conditions, we try to act swiftly and comprehensively to ensure the safety of our residents,” said Deputy Chief Ray Bernoties.
