5 things to do in and around Victoria today, Monday December 9th

The days keep getting colder and colder but the activities in Victoria are just starting to heat up. 

Whether you’re brewing up your own fizzy, bubbly bath bomb or enjoying the dozens of local artisans at the Migration market, there are plenty of ways to keep busy. 

Here are five things to do today, Monday December 9th, in and around Victoria. 

Bath Bomb Making Workshop

Give the gift of a hand-made present this year with a fun, informative and interactive two-hour workshop on the wonderful world of bath bomb making!

Learn the basics of what makes a bath bomb fizz and manufacture your own batch as well as a batch of bath scoops/truffles, all with customizable colours and scents. Get a ton of tips and tricks to ensure that every batch will work out perfectly, and you will receive free, reusable bath bomb moulds to easily make more at home!

Victoria Fringe Festival Early Bird Lottery 

The Victoria Fringe Festival is a favourite of theatre-lovers in town, and you can get excited early this year by attending the Victoria Fringe Early Bird Lottery Draw. 

Ten local plays will get randomly selected to be produced and performed at the 2020 Fringe Festival, which can be (and has been) the start of a long and fruitful career for local theatre writers and performers.

Migration Makers Market

Victoria is chock-full of spectacular local artisans, and the Migration Makers Market is the perfect place to go and check out their wares. 

Located in Mayfair Shopping Centre, the market is a larger extension of Migration’s downtown store and runs all the way through until December 31st.

  • When: Monday, December 6th, at 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 
    • Also on until December 31st at different times each day.

Find the Santas

Here’s a holiday treasure hunt for the whole family. This December, the staff at Miniature World have hidden six tiny Santa Claus figurines throughout their exhibit.

They’re holding a contest open to children 12 years of age and under, and the goal is to find all six Santas! If your child is sharp enough to find all six, they’ll win an annual pass to Miniature World for the whole of 2020!

Children’s Choir concert

Victoria’s Children’s Choir is one of the best and most beloved choirs in the city, and their ambitious project this winter is sure to move anyone who listens. 

Their show offers a moving new perspective on the Nativity story, evoking the struggle of travelling in a strange land and seeking the protection and kindness of strangers. The concert provides a poetic and refreshing look at the classic Christmas story that’s never been more relevant.
