A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck Monday morning just west of Vancouver Island.
The earthquake occurred at 8:44 a.m. about 181 km west of Port Hardy, at a depth of 5 km.
There is no threat of tsunami reported at this time.
According to Natural Resources Canada, the earthquake was not felt on land, there are no reports of damage, and none are expected.
