BC Hydro service areas in Metchosin and Colwood are experiencing significant power outages.
As of around 3:35 p.m. Thursday afternoon, power outages were reported in two large sections of the municipalities.
In the first area, 2,662 BC Hydro customers are without power in the location south of Glen Lake Road, east of Lindholm Road, and west of Albert Head Road.
This outage was caused by a tree downed across Hydro wires. Crews are working to fix the issue.
Meanwhile 2,030 people are in the dark in the location east of Gillespie Road, north of Battery Road, and west of Metchosin Road.
Crews have not yet been assigned to either case as of the time of publication, however both outages are under investigation according to the BC Hydro website.
