It’s been a busy year for Canadians, according to one of the internet’s most popular websites — Pornhub.
The porn site published its ever-popular annual review on December 11th, and it features all sorts of statistics and insights into the not-safe-for-work habits of the world.
In total, there were over 42 billion visits to Pornhub in 2019, which means there was an average of 115 million visits per day. As the website notes, that’s the equivalent of the populations of Canada, Australia, Poland and the Netherlands all visiting in one day.
Visitors to the site watched over 11,000 hours of content per minute, which equates to approximately 15 solid months of pornography viewing happening every 60 seconds for a full year.
We know — that’s quite the statistic to wrap your hand head around.
And this year, more Canadians than ever partook in the site’s offerings.
Canada moved up one spot in 2019 to become the fourth-largest visitor of the website. The United States remain in their top spot (you guys OK down there?), while Japan jumped up three spaces to second place.
Canadians of all ages (above 18, of course) participated in the viewing, though the most-represented demographic were in the 25-34-year-old age bracket.
More than two-thirds of Canadian visitors were men, but there was a three per cent increase in female visitors in 2019.
That’s about as much as we can tell you without getting too explicit, so maybe head into incognito mode for this next part and the more … specific information about Canadian’s viewing habits.
Getting Down and Dirty
Your boss isn’t looking? OK, great.
This year, Canadian’s top searches reflected the diversity and commitment to celebrating minorities that our country is renowned for.
Lesbian, hentai, and MILF ranked as the top three most popular searches amongst visitors from the True North, the same top three as 2018 (though MILF dropped in ranking from first to third).
Also featured on the “most searched” list were asian, massage, threesome, and step-mom.
Compared to the rest of the world, Canadians viewed more videos classified as “asian” (67% more), “threesome” (57%), and POV (24%).
Searches for “Double penetration” were also comparatively higher by 21%, clearly reflecting Canada’s commitment to embracing both anglophone and francophone culture.
Also featured in the year-end review is a previously posted wrap up of how Canadians watched porn during the 2019 federal election.
In an interesting but understandable turn of events, Pornhub’s Canadian traffic dropped below average by 10% at 10:00 p.m., while election results were coming in.
Once the results were confirmed — about 1:00 a.m. — Canadians went right back up by about 8% above the average, though the reasons for the visits probably varied depending on how they felt about those results.
Canada’s team also gets a shoutout in the review. According to a June 2019 post, Canadian traffic dropped below average by as much as 30% during the NBA Finals Game 6 between the Toronto Raptors and Golden State Warriors.
Then, once public celebrating had finished, Canada’s traffic spiked 11% above average at about 1:00 a.m.
Overall, Canadians should be proud of their increase in the most-viewed world ranking. Here’s to another stiff increase next year.
