Three more earthquakes hit the coast of Vancouver Island this afternoon

Three more earthquakes have struck off the west coast of Vancouver Island today, December 23rd, just hours after the reports of a magnitude 5.1 shake this morning.

The four earthquakes hit in nearly the exact same spot, a few 200 kilometres west of Port Hardy. 

According to data from Earthquakes Canada, the first of the three recent earthquakes registered at 5.6 on the Richter Scale and occurred at 11:13 a.m.

The second was a 5.8 on the Richter Scale and took place at 11:49 a.m.

The third was a magnitude 6.0 and took place at 12:56 p.m.

There is no threat of tsunami reported at this time.
