Several stores inside Tillicum Shopping Centre closed due to flooding

A warning for Victorians hoping to get a headstart on their Christmas shopping at the Tillicum Centre — a sprinkler mishap has closed four stores inside the mall.

According to Tillicum Centre spokesperson Elyse Norgaard Kituri, Coast Capital Savings, Bentley, and Northern Reflections are closed until further notice.

Cresta Dental was closed for a few hours for inspection, but after finding no damage to their suite, have reopened for business as usual.

Restoration service crews are on site fixing the damage, and the rest of the centre remains operational.

Kituri tells Victoria Buzz that construction workers at the mall accidentally triggered the sprinkler system, which lead to the activation of the fire alarm and the evacuation of nearby shoppers.

The sprinkler was located on the upper floor, meaning the water cascaded from one level to another and affected stores underneath.

No timeline was given on when the stores would be reopened for business.
