Victoria Police are warning local businesses to be alert after several instances of thefts involving unattended staff rooms.

The most recent report comes from the 1400-block of Blanshard Street, which includes the Macchiato Cafe, Tim Hortons, and Flight Centre.

Surveillance footage at 5:00 a.m. on December 11th captured a Caucasian male between the ages of 40 to 50 following a delivery man into a business while he unloaded.

The suspect, who was wearing a dark leather coat, blue jeans, and a dark toque, proceeded to the staff room where it is believed he stole cash, wallets, and a mobile phone.

VicPD are reminding staff members as well as business owners to ensure that staff rooms and valuables are secured.

On November 27, Victoria Buzz reported on a string of similar break-ins and thefts involving several downtown restaurants.

The group of businesses involved include E:Ne Raw Food and Sake Bar on Pandora Ave, Fishhook at Mermaid Wharf, Browns Crafthouse on Wilson Street in Vic West, Redd’s Roadhouse Pub on Blanshard Street, Irish Times Pub on Government Street, Veneto Bar Ristorante on Douglas Street, and Cafe Mexico on Store Street.

However, Victoria Police say the November break-ins are likely a different suspect than the one featured in this story.
