Family and friends have identified 30-year-old Geordie Charles Murray as the man found shot dead in rural Alberta last week.

According to RCMP, the man was killed due to injuries sustained in a firearms related incident in a rural area near Beiseker, AB.

In a GoFundMe post, friends and family identify the deceased as Geordie Murray, stating that he was killed in a “tragic accident while in Alberta with dear friends” and that he “died doing something he loved”.

Murray leaves behind his wife Shauna Murray, who is expecting their child in July 2020.

Family friends have set up the GoFundMe campaign in order to raise money for Shauna to support the baby’s growth and education.

“An education fund will be created, and any additional donations will go towards opportunities for baby Murray to grow and experience a full life to honour his/her father’s memory,” reads the post.

The campaign aims to raise $50,000 and, as of the time of publication, around $18,200 has been collected.

An open funeral for Geordie Murray has been scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Februrary 1st at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 701 Mann Avenue for all to attend.

Further, anyone who has stories about how Murray impacted their lives is encouraged to send them to geordiestories@gmail.com for his wife to eventually share with their baby.
