A 30-year-old man from Saanich has been shot dead in Southern Alberta.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23rd, near Beiseker, AB, a small town near Calgary.
RCMP units from Beiseker, Three Hills, and Airdrie — three towns near the stretch of highway where the incident took place — responded to a call of a “firearms-related injury,” according to a press release.
The man was alive and injured when the RCMP arrived, and they initiated first aid until Emergency Medical Services attended and took over treatment.
Unfortunately, the man was declared dead at the scene. Police said they will not be releasing his identity.
An autopsy is being conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary today, January 24th.
Beiseker RCMP are continuing the investigation, but they believe the incident was isolated and there is no further danger to the public.
