Wounded Warrior Run Finale changes location due to ongoing issues at Legislature

Share

The finale of the Wounded Warrior Run happening this Sunday has changed locations, due to the ongoing situation at the Legislature in downtown Victoria.

Officials were forced to cancel all events that were to take place around the vicinity, as protestors opposed to the construction of the Coastal GasLink pipeline in northern B.C. have continued protesting day and night at the Legislature since February 24th.

The new grande finale of the Wounded Warrior Run will take place at Market Square on Johnson Street.

Since Sunday, February 23rd, members of the 2020 Wounded Warrior Run BC team have taken part in a relay-style run from Port Hardy, and will be making their way to Victoria as their final destination.

Over those 8 days, the team of 8 runners and support staff made a variety of visits to local Legions, Community Halls, Fire, Ambulance and Police Departments and Sponsors locations.

The goal of the run is to raise funds and awareness for Wounded Warriors Canada, which offers life-changing programs right here on Vancouver Island. All this is designed to help Veterans, First Responders and their families struggling with Operational Stress Injuries, such as PTSD.

The team will make their last trek down the island tomorrow from Mill Bay. If you would like to cheer them on, here are the best time and locations to do that:
