Just after 9:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6th, West Shore RCMP responded to reports of a shooting outdoors near the 800 block of Arncote Ave in Langford.

Officers arrived to find 40-year-old Angela Dalman, a single-mother with a teenage son, suffering from gunshot wounds. She later succumbed to these injuries.

Police identified Anthony Dheensaw as a suspect in the shooting, but he had fled the scene in a vehicle before police arrived.

Dheensaw was located by a Saanich Police K9 unit at around 9:30 a.m. the following morning, which is when he was safely taken into custody.

“We believe this was an isolated crime and there is no on-going risk [to] the public,” said Inspector Todd Preston in a statement.

The investigation into this incident has been taken over by the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) and BC Coroners Service.
