With hotels across the world closing their doors due to the coronavirus pandemic, a few remain open to provide safe and comfortable accommodation to nurses, staff at senior homes, and other frontline workers – and all at a discounted rate.
Accent Inns in Victoria recently received a call from a registered nurse on the verge of tears.
She told the general manager that some nurses were sleeping in their cars as a way to avoid taking the virus home to their elder parents and children, and many nurses were working 14-hour days with only a short rest period between their next shift.
Because of this, Accent Inns implemented their Essential Services and Self-Isolation rates, quickly acting to get the offer out to as many frontline essential workers as they could.
Bin4 Burger Lounge’s Cloverdale location – which is located directly beside the hotel – has taken this a step further, generously donating one meal every day to every essential services employee who stays at Accent Inns Victoria using their special offer.
“British Columbia is operating in a state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re so proud of all the essential services superheroes who are working long hours and putting themselves at risk to take care of our communities,” says Accent Inns on their website.
