West Shore RCMP have arrested a 26-year-old man after a car crash led to the seizure of narcotics, weapons, and cash.

On February 1st, officers reported to the scene of a vehicle that had collided into a pole near the 3400 block of Happy Valley Road in Langford.

However when police arrived, the man driving the vehicle fled on foot, leaving behind two duffle bags containing over 240 grams of fentanyl.

According to RCMP Cpl. Fred Ritchie, 240 g of fentanyl would make up approximately 2400 individual doses. Therefore the initial collision investigation was quickly converted into a drug trafficking investigation.

Officers set up surveillance and tracked the man to a basement suite in a residence in the area of Langford Lake Rd and Langford Parkway.

The 26-year-old suspect was arrested on February 22nd, and a search of the suite uncovered more narcotics including methamphetamine and steroids, and a loaded hand gun and thousands of dollars in cash.

This is the third major drug bust in the West Shore in the month of February, according to RCMP.
