Magnitude 4.2 earthquake detected off coast of Vancouver Island

A 4.2 magnitude earthquake was detected off the coast of northern Vancouver Island Monday morning.

According to Earthquakes Canada, the earthquake occurred at around 5:43 a.m. on March 2nd.

The quake had a depth of 10 km and struck 183 km west of Port Hardy.

No tsunami is expected as a result of this earthquake and it has not been reported to be felt by anyone on the island.
