Man in hospital after altercation leads to stabbing: Nanaimo RCMP

A man has been airlifted to a hospital in Victoria with life-threatening injuries after a stabbing in Cedar (near Nanaimo) Tuesday morning.

According to a release from Nanaimo RCMP, the incident was reported to them at around 9:20 a.m. and took place at a residence on Clifford Road in Cedar.

The injured man was transported by attending BC Paramedics to the Nanaimo cruise ship terminal, where he was then taken to a waiting air ambulance and transported to Victoria.

Police say they believe the incident was the result of an altercation at the Clifford Road residence, where at least four adults reside.

The suspect fled the home prior to police arriving and has not yet been located.

“Although the suspect has not been arrested, officers do believe, that based on evidence gathered to date, this was an isolated occurrence and there is no further risk to the public, “said Constable Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.
