A loud bang was heard near the Harbour Air terminal alarming bystanders in downtown Victoria this afternoon.

According to a statement from Victoria Police, that sound was a result of Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team deploying a noise device.

The statement says that GVERT was taking two people into custody in the parking lot in the 900-block of Wharf Street just after 12 p.m. on March 10th.

No injuries have been reported.

Police say they are not able to release any further information about the nature or reason for the arrests at this time.

VicPD spokesperson Bowen Osoko tells Victoria Buzz that they are not confirming that the arrests were the result of a Victoria Police investigation.

More information about this incident is expected to be made available in the coming days.
