Saanich Police have released surveillance photos of a suspect sought in the sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl, which occurred on Thursday.

The incident happened at approximately 9:30 p.m. after the teenager exited the bus at the Royal Oak Exchange.

The girl was first approached by a man on a BC Transit bus who began engaging her in
conversation. When she exited the bus, he followed her and began to make unwanted sexual advancements towards her, including unwanted touching.

Saanich Police have now stated that there was a report of a second incident, and investigators believe that these two incidents are related.

On March 4th, a 25-year-old woman contacted Saanich Police to report that a man had assaulted her near a bus stop on February 26th at 10:00 p.m. The man engaged this girl in conversation, followed her off the bus and began to make unwanted sexual touching. 

Currently, Saanich Police are seeking any assistance from the public in identifying the man.

The suspect is described as a male who is believed to be about 30-years-old. He has a dark complexion and is around 5’7″ tall and had black hair.

He was clean-shaven and was wearing skinny jeans and spoke with an accent. It is believed English is not his first language.

Also of note is he has a prominent balding spot on the back of his head, which is not shown in the released photographs. 

“As we continue to investigate this file to identify the suspect, we would like to remind the public to be alert and aware of your surroundings, walk with a partner if possible, and always carry a charged cell phone,” said Cst. Markus Anastasiades in a release.
