Victoria Police arrest man for making threats while carrying replica handgun

One man has been arrested for flashing a handgun and making threats at a residential building in downtown Victoria.

Just after 6 p.m. on Wednesday March 11th, police were called to a multi-unit residential building in the 700-block of Queens Avenue for reports of a man flashing a handgun and making threatening comments.

The suspect was seen entering the building with a handgun tucked into his waistband and then making his way to a residential unit.

When officers arrived, they located the man, contacted him, and began negotiating his safe surrender.

He was taken into custody at around 8 p.m. with no further incident, and there were no injuries during this incident.

Investigators also prepared a search warrant which was executed on the residence he had entered. Upon searching the place, police discovered evidence including a replica handgun.

The suspect was held in custody for morning court and officers are recommending charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats.
