West Shore RCMP have released surveillance footage in hopes that the public can help identify an assault suspect caught on camera running away from the scene of crime.

The incident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. on January 17th, in the parking lot of Princess Auto located at 1037 Langford parkway.

In a statement, West Shore RCMP said they received a report from a bystander who told them they had witnessed a man and woman arguing, followed by the man physically assaulting the woman.

When the bystander attempted to intervene and help the woman, he was attacked and punched several times by the suspect.

As a result, the bystander sustained injuries to his head.

“Both the male suspect and female victim left the area prior to police attendance. We are asking them to come forward and identify themselves and speak to police,” said Cst. Nancy Saggar of the West Shore RCMP detachment.

“Not only do we have a good samaritan who was injured in this incident, but we also have a female victim who did not come forward to police and we are worried about her safety.”

The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian male,
  • 30-40 years old;
  • 6’ft tall;
  • 180 lbs with a slim build;
  • light-coloured facial hair;
  • wearing a black leather bomber style jacket with a black shirt underneath that has a logo of skull and crossbones, with jeans and black runners.
