Merchant Quarters General Store just opened their brand new location – and talk about location! – in March, and they’ve got everything from flannel shirts to cheddar cheese.
On Friday, May 1st they will hold their grand ‘re-opening’ – now with a fun full lineup of new products, including grocery essentials.
Located on the bustling corner of Government Street, Merchant Quarters is a modern version of the classic general store – inspired by the early general merchant stores of the 1800’s.
Though they have done away with the harnesses and tobacco of the olden days, you’ll still find an array of artisan items – and have added everything from Birkenstocks to Ray Bans.
They offer products produced here in B.C. by local artisans and makers as much as possible, and seek out companies who are socially responsible with a mindful and fair trade philosophy.
Merchant Quarters carries 150 brands including Ray Ban, Scotch & Soda, Birkenstock, Free People and Herschel, and over 3000 individual and unique items.
Now that they’ve added a little more food to their repertoire, they have shifted gears to offer a broader selection of grocery products to ensure they can re-open as an essential service.
All produce is organic, all dairy is from Avalon in BC, their pasta is from Cowichan, and their vinegar from Salt Spring – 95% of their food offerings are right from our province.
Not only is their grand re-opening on Friday, May 1st, but they’re also giving away a pair of Birkenstocks to one lucky winner! Contest details are below.
In keeping with current physical distancing measures, guests will be limited to 4 in the store at a time. Directional tape is placed at 2m intervals throughout the store, and gloves will be available to all customers at no charge.
No cash will be accepted, only tap with cards, and a spray barrier has been installed at the till.
