Man arrested after stealing items from Sikh temple in Victoria

Victoria Police have arrested a man who broke into a temple and stole religious and ceremonial items.

At around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, officers attended reports of a break and enter at the Khalsa Diwan Sikh Temple located at 1210 Topaz Avenue.

Upon investigation, police learned that a man had broken into the temple at around 4 a.m. and left with a number of religious and ceremonial items.

Officers were able to obtain a description of the suspect and, at around 8 a.m., were able to find and arrest him in Centennial Square.

All of the stolen items were recovered.

The man remains in custody and is now facing recommended charges of break and enter, possession of break in instruments, breach of probation, and weapons possession.
