West Shore RCMP arrested a 36-year-old man at the end of April after several items were stolen from a vehicle in Langford.

On April 15th, police received a report that bank cards and women’s jewelry were stolen from a vehicle parked near the 2900-block of Golden Spike Place in Langford.

West Shore RCMP determined that the bank cards were used at local convenience stores, and were able to identify the suspect from the store’s video surveillance.

The Crime Reduction Unit were able to track down where the suspect lived, and executed a search warrant at the man’s Langford residence on April 29th.

West Shore RCMP found evidence related to the theft at the residence.

The 36-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of stolen property as well as fraud.

“Theft from vehicles remains one of the highest reported crimes to the West Shore RCMP,” said Const. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP media relations officer, said in a release.

“Please take your belongings with you and don’t leave them in the car.”
