Police find truck “parked” on top of vehicle in James Bay

This isn’t something you see every day.

In an effort to convince Victoria residents to be more mindful of their driving, VicPD shared a startling image of a truck that looks to have collided into a parked vehicle and came to a stop on top of its hood.

The photo in question was taken on April 27th in the 200-block of Oswego Street in James Bay after police and fire department arrived at the scene of the crash.

According to VicPD media spokesperson Cst. Cam MacIntyre, there were no injuries but the vehicles sustained over $10,000 worth of damage.

The file in question remains under investigation and no charges have been laid yet, but police believe the incident was caused by distracted driving.

“That’s obviously a pretty dramatic photograph and luckily no one was injured,” said Cst. MacIntyre in a phone call with Victoria Buzz.

“We tweeted that because it’s road safety week across Canada. We want people to, for a variety of reasons, slow down, be aware of pedestrians and cyclists on the road, and obviously put down their phones.”

Officers believe that a cell phone was involved in this distracted driving incident.
