West Shore RCMP say a toddler was reunited with his family after being found wandering on his own in View Royal late Tuesday evening.

On June 16, at approximately 7:20 p.m., a concerned citizen called police after he found a 3-year-old boy wandering on his own near Pheasant Lane.

Officers immediately attended the call and while en route were advised that the child’s parents, who were out looking for their son, had been reunited.

Police said they met with all parties and learned that the child had been playing with his siblings and wandered out of the home without the parents realizing it.

“The child never got too far because a caring citizen stopped and did the right thing by calling police and staying with the child until help arrived. We want to say thank you to the citizen,” Cst. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP Media Relations officer.
