A police-escorted motorcade procession is taking place in Victoria on Saturday to honour Captain Kevin Hagen as his remains return to Vancouver Island.

Hagen was one of six Canadian Air Force members who lost their lives in the CH-148 Cyclone helicopter crash in the Mediterranean Sea on April 29.

Homecoming processions for the other five members were held earlier this month and last.

On Saturday, June 27, Capt. Hagen’s remains will be brought to the Victoria International Airport where Hagen’s family will be joined by military and civilian dignitaries in a police-escorted motorcade.

Starting at 1:30 p.m., the motorcade procession will travel from the airport to the McCall Gardens Funeral Home in Cordova Bay.

“For those who wish to recognize Captain Hagen’s return home, we ask that you join us in adhering to COVID-19 restrictions and practice physical distancing while paying respects, in addition to observing traffic rules,” reads a statement from the Canadian Armed Forces.
