A 37-year-old Victoria resident was arrested in Colwood for drug trafficking and driving under the influence of drugs last week.

West Shore RCMP said they received multiple reports of a vehicle swerving into oncoming traffic on Sooke Road near Metchosin Road on June 2.

Police located the car at the intersection and found the driver unconscious at the stop light.

Officers woke the driver, who was displaying symptoms consistent with being intoxicated by drugs.

The driver, identified as a 37-year-old Victoria resident, was arrested for impaired driving and drug trafficking.

Police searched the driver and located individually packaged bags of Lysergic acid diethylamide (commonly known as LSD), as well as cocaine. Police obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and recovered over 350 grams of Methamphetamine.

“The investigation is ongoing. Police want to thank the multiple callers who notified police of the dangerous driving behaviour they witnessed,” said Cst. Nancy Saggar.

“These callers no doubt prevented a serious collision by calling police right away and without knowing it helped us catch an alleged drug trafficker in the process.”
