Police have identified and arrested a suspect after a random, unprovoked assault took place in downtown Victoria Saturday.
VicPD were called to the 2900-block of Douglas Street at around 11 a.m. on June 13 after reports that a woman was assaulted by an unknown man.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the unidentified man threw his body into a 29-year-old woman in an aggressive manner, while she was walking down the sidewalk.
Surveillance shows the woman falling to the ground as a result of the assault. According to police, the attack was random and unprovoked.
The suspect left the area immediately after the incident, and the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Later that day, VicPD said a man, who turned out to be the suspect, flagged down an officer who was driving in the 800 block of Caledonia Avenue around 7:30 Saturday evening.
He was arrested and released on a notice to appear in court at a later date.
