Man spits on Langford store employee while leaving with cart full of stolen goods

West Shore RCMP say a grocery store employee was allegedly spat on by a customer on Tuesday evening.

The incident happened at the Real Canadian Superstore in Langford at around 6:45 p.m, police said in a release.

A man was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer for leaving the store with a cart and over $1,100 worth of unpaid merchandise.

The suspect allegedly spat on the employee and walked away from the cart.

Police arrived shortly after the incident and located the suspect not far from the store and learned that he was also breaching his court-ordered curfew conditions by being outside his residence.

The suspect was arrested for assault, theft under $5000 and breaching his court conditions. Officers searched his backpack subsequent to arrest and located additional items from the store that were not paid for.

He was was held in custody and is set to appear in court today.
