One of the largest fitness chains in B.C., Steve Nash Fitness World & Sports Clubs, is under new ownership after a court-approved sale was announced on Tuesday.

According to a statement from the company, the chain which has been closed for several months and faced financial uncertainties will retain its CEO, Chris Smith.

Steve Nash Fitness World is now owned by a group of investors, and plans are under way to rebrand the clubs.

“The new ownership team understands there are many questions that remain unanswered and we look forward to welcoming people back into the clubs as quickly and safely as possible as we work through COVID-19 reopening protocols,” said Smith in a statement.

“There will be health and safety procedures in place when we reopen that are all in line with B.C. safety standards, as keeping everyone safe and healthy will be a foremost priority.”

Reopening plans are also currently being worked on and information about the timing of opening at each location will be sent out to members in the coming weeks.

Monthly fees, and all existing service agreements will be honoured once the gyms reopen.
