Impromptu car show planned in Sidney to celebrate Canada Day

Share

Not sure how to celebrate Canada’s 153rd birthday this year?

In lieu of the annual Sidney parade, a group of car enthusiasts in the municipality are putting on an impromptu car show this morning.

The vehicles start staging in the parking lot at the Mary Winspear Centre at 11 a.m., and will begin their drive around Sidney at 11:45 a.m.

“A bunch of us car enthusiasts will be driving around Sidney in our pride and joy,” says one of the organizers, Nikki Bunn.

The procession will head down Beacon Ave, turn right on Lochside Dr, travel over the overpass to Willingdon Rd, around the Victoria International airport, turn right on West Saanich Road, make another right on Lands End, head down the highway and on to McDonald Park Rd.

“We will be passing through some neighbourhoods, so if we are passing through yours, bring some chairs out and watch the rolling car show!”

If you’re in the area and looking for last minute Canada Day activities, give these motor enthusiasts and their vehicles a cheer.

Just remember to maintain proper physical distancing from people outside your social bubble!
