One man has been taken into custody and then hospitalized after a mental health call involving a weapon on Tuesday afternoon.
At around 4:30 p.m., Victoria Police officers were called to an apartment building in the 1100-block of Hillside Ave for reports that a man was in crisis and had a weapon.
According to VicPD spokesperson Bowen Osoko, it took two to three hours for officers to secure the scene and Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team and Crisis Negotiators to take the man into custody.
A part of the building was evacuated during the incident, says Osoko, and the man in question was taken to hospital for evaluation.
The nature of the weapon is not being disclosed, and there were no injuries to either the man in custody or anyone in the building.
No charges are being recommended at this time and there may be an update on this incident in the near future.
