VicPD investigating bicycle “chop shop” at Beacon Hill Park

Share

After receiving tips from the public, Victoria Police are investigating what they call a bicycle “chop shop” at Beacon Hill Park.

At around 9 a.m. on July 14, officers arrived at a secluded spot within the park.

There, they came across a large number of bicycles in varying states, bicycle parts, and other property including power tools, industrial torches, and propane tanks.

At this time, no information is available on what measures police will take in light of this discovery. The investigation into the existence of the bicycle chop shop is currently ongoing.

Police advise that the best way to protect property against bike thieves is by registering bicycle serial numbers with VicPD through this website, and the form can be dropped off at VicPD Headquarters at 850 Caledonia Avenue, or emailed to reserves.reserves@vicpd.ca.

A similar bicycle ‘chop shop’ near Beacon Hill Park was shut down by VicPD in April after officers used a bait bike to lead them to the operation.
