Victoria Police investigating after City Hall window broken by suspected air gun

Share

Victoria Police are asking witnesses to come forward after a window at Victoria City Hall was damaged by a suspected air gun shot.

In a statement on Thursday, VicPD says officers were called to the building at 1 Centennial Square at around 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday after a staff member returned to their desk to find debris from a damaged office window.

The staff member in question was not physically injured.

Police say the damage to the window is consistent with a projectile being fired at it from outside.

When officers from the department’s Forensic Identification Services and Major Crime Unit examined the scene, they found evidence that the window was most likely damaged by a compressed-air style air gun, such as a pellet gun.

Investigators are now looking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed or have information about this incident.

To report what you know, call (250) 995-7654, and select extension 1 for VicPD’s report desk. Those who wish to report anonymously, can call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
