Police received a report from a homeowner Thursday evening around 11:30 p.m. of a man attempting to steal patio furniture off her front porch.

The homeowner, who lives in the 600 block of Goldstream Ave in Langford, says they scared the man away and provided police with a detailed description of the suspect.

Minutes later, RCMP received another report of a theft, this time in the 600 block of Fairway Ave, only a few blocks away from the first report.

The second report came from a homeowner who said the man was attempting to steal their bicycle.

Officers were able to respond immediately, located the suspect and arrested him.

Police say he is a 22-year-old man who is a resident of Victoria.

A search of the suspect also revealed two pieces of stolen identification, belonging to a resident of View Royal.

The identification had been reported stolen from a parked vehicle which had been left unlocked.

The suspect remains in custody and is due to appear in court today.

He faces numerous charges including theft, possession of stolen property and breaching court ordered conditions including curfew.

West Shore RCMP credited their quick response to vigilant homeowners who called police right away and provided a detailed description of the suspect.
