5 things to do in and around Victoria today, Friday August 21st

You made it to the end of the week so don’t let the dark skies change your plans of having fun in and around Victoria today.

As you head out to activities and events, please follow the restrictions and guidelines that these businesses require to keep their employees and patrons safe during the pandemic.

As always, wash your hands, wear masks, practice physical distancing, and stay home if you feel sick or show symptoms!

Without further ado, here are five things to do today, Friday, August 21:

 

Free Seedling Distribution Day

Stop by Banfield Park to pick up things like lettuce, Chard, Kale, Mustard Greens, Purple Sprouting Broccoli, Kohlrabi, Peas, and Green Onions!

In order to ensure everyone receives an equal amount of plants, thye’ll be handing out growing kits. Growing kit may not fit your exact needs, and in order to accommodate, they’ll have an area where you can drop plants off or trade for plants you want.

  • When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (or until they run out)
  • Where: Victoria West Community Association, 521 Craigflower Road

Pop-up Theatre — Free Theatre SKAM performances

This year, Theatre SKAM is bringing the theatre to you with Pop-Up Theatre Home Delivery – or in this case, park delivery! To comply with the province’s physical distancing regulations, they have adapted their Pop-Up theatre by transforming it into an open-air stage on a flatbed truck, bringing shows all around the Greater Victoria Area.

Stop by the park to watch this funny, family friendly 15 minute performance!

    • Performance 1: 6:30 p.m.
    • Performance 2: 7:00 p.m.

Live Music Happy Hour at Pagliacci’s Restaurant

Pagliacci’s will be hosting live bands daily outside on their patio, with no cover and there will be drink specials.

  • When: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Where: 1011 Broad Street

Aaron Watson & Christopher Sartisohn at Brentwood Bay Resort

Featuring Aaron Watson and Chris Sartisohn The Cold Cut Combo is a Victoria-based acoustic group of improvisational musicians specializing in Gypsy Jazz, Parisian Musette Waltzes and Swing & Latin standards. The CCC features virtuosic jazz Manouche guitars, soulful accordion, and sweet vocals.

Reservations highly recommended. Book your table using the “Tickets” tab.

Peter McMaster @ Steamship Grill & Bar

Enjoy some live music over dinner and drinks.
