6 things to do in and around Victoria this weekend, September 26th to 27th

You made it, Victoria! It’s a beautiful fall weekend and there’s plenty of things to do around town. Here’s a list of events for September 26th and 27th.

As you head out to activities and events, please follow the restrictions and guidelines that these businesses require to keep their employees and patrons safe during the pandemic.

As always, wash your hands, wear masks, practice physical distancing, and stay home if you feel sick or show symptoms!

Without further ado, here are six things to do September 26th and 27th!

Ladies of Jazz f. Maria Manna, Maureen Washington, and Elaine Lakeman

An evening of Jazz with some of Victoria’s premiere vocalists and musicians. Tickets available for in-person seating and for livestream (suggested donation for remote viewers!).
  • When:  Saturday, 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Where: Hermann’s Jazz Club, 753 View Street

Comedy Brunch at the Mint

Comedy and breakfast foods! What a combo! Come enjoy brunch while being entertained by the most hilarious comedians in the city! Seating is limited, be sure to book your table online! There are options for 2, 4 or 6 only.
  • When: Sunday, 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Where: The Mint Restaurant, 1414 Douglas Street

Pressure Canning

The Victoria Compost Education Centre presents a workshop on the basics of modern home pressure canning techniques, equipment, safety issues, and resources for the home canner.
Imagine how great it would be to open your cupboard and pull out a jar of your very own home-canned meat stew, vegetable soup, or salmon fillets! In this workshop, we’ll use a pressure canner to preserve delicious vegetarian soup by it them in glass jars. We’ll also cover the basics of modern home pressure canning techniques, equipment, safety issues, and resources for the home canner.
  • When: Saturday, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Where: Greater Victoria Compost Education Centre, 1216 North Park Street

Moon Festival – FLOW THROUGH Lantern Celebration

The 2020 drive-through Moon Festival Lantern Celebration fosters understanding and appreciation for cultural diversity by sharing Asian cultural traditions. Bring the family and drive, cycle or walk through the lantern display route along Lambrick Way to the Recreation Centre. Guests will be asked to move along the lantern route to view the lanterns without stopping to avoid congestion. Parking lots and the Recreation Centre will be closed during the drive-through display and cars will be directed to exit on Feltham Road using a right turn only once leaving the route. Transform your front window into a “window lantern” or create your own LED lantern to display in your yard, balcony, school or business the week around the Harvest Moon. We will be sharing some ideas and “how to’s” here and on our website soon! Here’s some inspiration to get you started.
  • When: Saturday, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Bastion Square Public Market

The market offers locals and tourists a fine selection of handmade products with the artisan often working on site. On Sundays, the market has entertainment, coffees and baked goods a few imports.

Bastion Square which was once Fort Victoria historic site is located in the heart of downtown Victoria. Bastion Square lies between, Government and Wharf Street and Fort and Yates Street.

  • When: Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Where: Bastion Square

Welcome to Porsche

Porsche holds a welcome event at their Victoria location for the new all-electric Taycan. September 26th only, you can test drive the one yourself!

  • When: Saturday at 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Where: Porsche Centre Victoria, 737 Audley Street
