The body of a man who went missing over the past weekend has been found in Elk Lake.

Tim Elliott, a 28-year-old Sidney resident went missing at Elk Lake around 10 p.m. on September 12.

Saanich Police said on Tuesday morning that they had been working with Peninsula Emergency Measures Organization Search and Rescue (PEMO SAR) dive teams and officers to search for him in the area.

At around 2 p.m. Tuesday, the police department announced that Elliott was found deceased and his body recovered from the lake, near where he had gone missing on Saturday.

Investigators are on scene and the BC Coroners Service has been notified.
