West Shore RCMP are searching for the suspect in an attempted break-and-enter in Colwood.

At around 9:56 p.m. on Sunday September 20, a homeowner in Colwood called police to report an attempted crime at their residence in the 600 block of Stornoway Drive.

The homeowner reported that he heard his dogs barking and went outside to find the garage door partly open and an unknown man peering through the ground floor window.

When he saw the homeowner, the suspect started fleeing in the direction of Cairndale Road.

Police say nothing appears to have been stolen from the residence.

However officers are now searching for the suspect, and seeking witnesses and video surveillance to help them find him.

“If you have home surveillance and reside in the area, please check your system between 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. and contact police if you think you captured the suspect on video,” said Cst. Nancy Saggar in a statement.

“The same goes for anyone driving ni the area at the time who may have dash camera footage. If you observe any suspicious activity please report it to police right away.

The suspect is described as an adult man, possibly in his 30s, standing approximately 6’1” tall.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a baseball cap, dark coloured top and blue jeans.

Witnesses and people with video surveillance footage can reach out to West Shore RCMP at (250) 474-2264.
