Three people were arrested in mid-September after a number of firearms were located in a vehicle and residence.

In a statement, Oceanside RCMP said they received reports of shots being fired from a vehicle in rural Qualicum Beach at around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 13.

An officer attended and located the suspect vehicle. Police said they found insecure firearms, including a stolen handgun in the vehicle.

Two of the suspects associated with the vehicle lived on a large property near the area where they were arrested.

Oceanside RCMP then executed a search warrant on the home and seized more firearms from within the dwelling, as well as evidence of a “large scale” and sophisticated drug operation.

A second search warrant was then obtained in order to gather evidence of offences under the Cannabis Act and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Officers then seized illicit products and manufacturing equipment.

A 43-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man from Qualicum Beach as well as a 44-year-old woman from Nanaimo were arrested without incident.

They have since been released on a number of conditions and will appear in court in December to face a variety of recommended weapon and drug charges.
