West Shore RCMP have arrested a 34-year-old woman accused of a hit and run incident while she was allegedly impaired by drugs and driving a vehicle.

In a statement released Friday, RCMP say they received several witness calls at about 3:38 a.m. September 18 after a blue Infiniti G35 vehicle had wound up on the front lawn of a home near the 3300 block of Haida Drive in Colwood.

When police arrived on scene, they found that the vehicle had significant damage to its rear end as a result of a hit and run.

The force of the collision pushed the vehicle over from its parking spot on the road into a witness’ front lawn.

People in area were able to provide police with video surveillance footage of the incident, leading them to the suspect female driver of a white pick up truck.

“The surveillance depicted a white GMC 1500 pick up being driven by a female suspect crashing into the Infiniti before backing up and leaving the scene of the collision,” said Cst. Nancy Saggar in a statement.

“Investigators began patrolling the area and quickly located the truck and suspect driver who was exhibiting symptoms consistent with drug impairment.”

The 34-year-old woman was then arrested for impaired driving and her truck was impounded.

She was also issued a four hour driving prohibition and a violation ticket for failing to remain at the scene of a collision.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
