4 ways you can help shine a light on youth homelessness in Victoria this holiday season

Share

This holiday season, Threshold Housing Society wants to continue their annual tradition of shining a light on youth homelessness – but they need your help!

Though they are unable to host their annual Winter Carnival and Tree lighting event in Bastion Square due to COVID-19, they are still continuing to raise funds for the work we are doing this holiday season.

Threshold believes that every youth deserves a safe place to call home, to find acceptance and sanctuary.

They work to prevent adult homelessness by providing safe housing, support services, and community to at-risk youth, aged 16-24 years old. Threshold serves at-risk youth experiencing homelessness, aging out of care, or fleeing violence in the home – young adults who need a place to call home and people who believe in them.

Here are 4 ways you can help shine a light on youth homelessness this holiday season:

Grab yourself (or a loved one!) a tea gift box

Threshold has partnered with Silk Road Tea to create the perfect gift box and it includes 12 different flavours of tea. Great gifts for the holiday season, the gift boxes are $20 each and all proceeds go directly to the society.

You can purchase your box online here.

Make a donation

It’s as simple as that! You can have a positive impact on at-risk youth in our community by making a donation today.

Put a donation on your Christmas list

On top of making your own donation, you can ask your favourite person to add a donation to Threshold Housing to your holiday gift wish list this year.

Throw your very own virtual fundraiser

Host a fundraiser for Threshold in your office or home this season! You can set this up by going to thresholdhousing.ca/events or by contacting Threshold Housing at 250-383-8830 ext 1001.

Coast Capital Savings and Victoria Residential Builders Association is supporting Threshold Housing Society this holiday season and sponsoring their Shine a Light on Youth Homelessness campaign.
